Dead Name Assassin was founded by Owen in 2018 after being frustrated by the lack of effective and comfortable binders for large chests.
With over 15 years hands on experience as a creative pattern cutting and manufacturing expert they set out to create their first range of binders. Happy but not completely satisfied they were tested and refined to be what are now the best binders around - incorporating stylish prints and designs so they can be worn as a single garment, they chose sensory friendly fabrics to make binders that are fun and comfortable as well as very effective. Hello gender euphoria!
Owen is passionate about slow fashion and taking the time to create each binder to our clients unique measurements as well as being body positive, so we eliminated sizing in 2021 and our binders have been made to measure ever since. We are proud to be a carbon neutral label which uses renewable electricity in our workroom. We source our fabric locally and fabric scraps are recycled or donated making us a zero waste slow fashion label.
grew up poor in Thatcher's Britain in the 1980s where everything they wore was either hand-me-down or made by their mum or nan. Their mum taught them to sew at the age of 11 when all they wanted to be was a fashion designer. 13 years later they debuted their first label 'Hello Dolly Latex' which took the 2000's alt fashion scene by storm and was featured in magazines and runways globally. As time moved on they turned their attention towards more sustainable fashion with their second label Tempesta Couture.
Dead Name Assassin is their third and final label which has always had an emphasis on creating slow fashion for all genders and bodies and now specialises exclusively in bespoke binders, with maybe the odd costume commission here and there.
Owen is also a neurodivergent drag monster/king with disabilities who is very passionate about promoting body positivity, diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility across all of their creative endeavours.
restarted making clothes a few years ago doing Dark Ages reenactment and has since slid down the slippery slope into medievalist hobbies. After growth in confidence and lack of correctly fitting, androgynous attractive clothing being available, they wanted to create more garments. Having met Owen a few years ago admiring each others goblin alter egos, they felt it was time to assist with this essential resource for their community.
Saz did not have the language or knowledge to explore their gender going through puberty in the noughties, so as a mother feels it is imperative we embrace and promote the freedom everyone deserves.
